Since the Last Time

It's been a long time since I've posted here, and I am glad to report that with the ending of my school life (the loud ringing of school bells, rushing to get onto the first school bus, complaining of the price or quality of the school canteen and most of all, the relationships with both friends and teachers) I have also completed one chapter of my life. Moving onto the "real world" is a scary thought and I hope that through all the things I have learnt so far, all the mistakes I've made, things I've experienced, relationships I've built and the memories made, can in turn better equip me with the ability to sustain myself in the new journey ahead.

So I guess I am back guys, well at least for the next four months of absolute freedom. To be completely honest, I have no clue where to start in terms of updating my blog so I guess I'll just begin with where I left off. Please excuse how outdated this all is and my inability to adapt quick enough to the (not so) new Blogger interface, but I too, will probably be making some changes, so expect this place to grow.

Newspaper

What's black and white and re(a)d all over? Well, not only are newspapers, but even I was - well at least for a day or so. Please excuse my lame humour here, and if you haven't already closed the browser from the dry joke, I applaud you. (:
So, some time during my five day weekend, my school group decided to go and spend some time in the city to take our minds off all the things that that had passed (and were yet to come, i.e. exam results - maybe even more stressful than the exams themselves). We started the day off buy having Yum Cha, discussing proper Yum Cha etiquette in between chopstick picking and tea sipping, and then walking to Harbourside to enjoy the relatively "new" playground. After this, the remaining few people went around shopping for a tad, before having to deal with (quite possibly) the country's worst transport system.
Nonetheless, it was a wonderful day, with everyone being able to come - a usually rare occasion as there are sixteen people. Yay!
Hope you are all having a wonderful week. xx

Bits and Pieces

Evening sky from the train station.
This is where I spend most of my time travelling. I need to get my Learner's Permit soon.
When a grey sky turns blue.
Trying to find a decent pot plant.
On extremely rainy days, our school develops its own lake.
It's been a while since I last posted. Only yesterday did I complete my final exam (for this term) and I could not be any more gratified by the five day weekend that was received at the conclusion of my exam period. All the photos above have been taken since the start of the school year - as per usual, I haven't been on enough to upload them all, so these are some of my favourites. Hope you are all doing well. xx

DIY: Valentines Day Charms

Image source: I Fluently Speak Fashion
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Just thought I'd like to share a DIY that a friend of mine made as gifts to her Valentine(s) - it was just so sweet. Apologies in advanced that the steps are a tad confusing, and the pictures of low quality - does anyone want to guess where I took the photos?
You will need:
- Coloured Felt
- Ribbon
- Needle and thread
- Scissors
- Cotton Stuffing
Start by cutting out two pieces of felt into heart shapes. If you want, you can embroider the name of your Valentine onto the surface of one, or both sides of the heart.
Cut out 10 cm of ribbon, fold it in half and sew the ribbon onto one surface of the heart. Once this is done, place the hearts back-to-back and blanket stitch them together, stopping halfway to add a desired amount of stuffing (until plump). Then finish off the stitching and you are done!
How very lucky these people were. A special mention to Jess for letting me "observe" you making these.
Once again, Happy Valentine's Day. xx

Reminiscing

Most probably the only beach-worthy day during my school break:

The ocean waves rolling in and out in a distant rhythm.
A meetup of t2v - a mark of three years past:
t2v cupcakes.
Just to blow out the candle.
Quite possibly the best burger. Ever. At least to me it was.
Cafe Lights.
 Night Life:
After having a walk along the beach at night.
Australia Day Fireworks:
As I work around with all the stress and workload that is my final year of schooling, I just want to share some snippets of some (of the other) things I got up to during my six week break. My way of giving an apology for the absence from posting I suppose (I'm sorry). xx

Lunar New Year

It was Lunar New Year today, with 2012 being the year of the dragon.
I spent the day visiting my extended family and wishing them all the best for the year to come (earning some red envelopes along the way). However, most of my New Years greetings had been done yesterday, when I went to my uncle's house to wish my dad's side of the family a Happy (Lunar) New Year. It was a great day, with everyone bringing a plate, or two, of food along. Once again, I was too busy stuffing my face to take any photos, but let me tell you, it was delicious!
After finishing dinner, the whole family sat down to play "Bau Cua Ca Cop," a gambling game involving three dice (with 6 images of a certain item on each) and a board (with six pictures corresponding to those on the dices). When the game finally ended - probably from everyone exceeding past their betting limits - we all sat down to watch a certain TV show on the SBS channel (;
Overall the day was wonderful, and I don't think I'd have had it any other way. xx

In the Jungle

The birthday boy
Coolest Cake. Ever.
So, earlier this week was my little cousin's birthday. The theme was "Jungle" and it was carried through brilliantly - with the birthday boy dressing up as a monkey! Upon arrival, guests were greeted by a set of paw prints leading to the backyard, filled with patterned balloons and tables with little animal figurines. Also set up were masks that children could play with, as well as some face painting. The food was delicious and there were decorated cupcakes and a "birthday cake snake" (try saying that 10 times) to finish off the day.
PS: Sorry I haven't been on since... last year. To everyone, however belated this is, I hope you've all had a fantastic start to 2012 and continue to have a Happy New Year. xx
